A good session includes all the bits

Life-coaching done well gives you a balance of practical, solution-based tools and strategies, and a safe therapeutic space for which exploration, change and growth can occur. Without either of these elements present, a true coaching experience cannot beneficially happen for anyone, and client-coach chemistry therein. A coaching session without a focus to reach a desired goal, becomes at best - a counselling or support soundboard, lesser than this its then just a chat.

On the 'therapy space' side of the coin, if a coach cannot create an easy to disclose environment for trust, empathy and non-judgement, you would feel guarded and less willing to explore issues of concern, share insights and unable to be candidly authentic.
